Here is a list of websites I would highly recommend for useful information before, during, and after pregnancy. Links will open in a new window or tab.
Waterbirth International
Barbara Harper, R.N., founder and director of Waterbirth International has traveled all over the world, doing research, attending births, and lecturing about water birthing. She has a book and two videos in this regard called, "Gentle Birth Choices." She is a wonderful resource for anyone considering waterbirth and her website has a great deal of helpful information.
Le Leche League International
The Le Leche League is a non-profit organization offering, "mother-to-mother" support and education for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Regardless of whether you are having difficulty breastfeeding or great success, these groups give breastfeeding mothers a place to go and interact with other breastfeeding moms with all different levels of experience, number of children, and ages of children. It is often just a nice outing for mom and baby to get out and interact with other women in similar situations. They usually meet once a month. There are local groups all over, check out their website to find the group nearest to you.
Reiki International
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing art used for working with the body's energy system. It is useful for physical, mental, emotional, and energetic well being. By placing hands on the client, Practitioner acts as a conduit for the Reiki to flow through the healer and into the client, helping to release any blockages and balance the body's natural energy system. The experience is very relaxing, calming, and nurturing. Clients often experience a warming sensation or vibration at the point of contact and all sessions are performed fully clothed. For more information about Reiki, you can check out the website or contact me anytime with questions.
Bach Flower Essences
Bach Flower Essences are used to correct emotional imbalances. There are 38 individual essences which each address different issues and they can be combined into remedies of up to seven essences. The flower essences act to replace negative emotions with positive and offer support for nervous tension in general. They are natural and safe for use on anyone of any age and also in conjunction with herbs, homeopathy, and medication. There is no drug interaction. These are complimentary to any other modality of healing.
Flower Essence Society
This is an international organization which is involved in ongoing research about the healing benefits of flower and plant essences. These include the original 38 Bach Essences, but the FES repertory is much more expansive and includes flower essences and essential oils from several different regions all over the world.
